@artvangarde: Japanese performance artist Ayumu Matsuoka creates movement works combining tricking, acrobatics and experimental performance. Rather than presenting tricks only as athletic achievements, Matsuoka uses rotation, momentum, balance and gravity as artistic materials. His body can appear suspended horizontally, fold into unusual positions or rotate through the air before suddenly returning to the ground. He often takes these movements outside traditional performance spaces, using streets, architecture and natural landscapes as part of the image. The surroundings change how each movement is perceived and photographed.
