@trymarhaba: ĀYAH GRAMMAR & TAFSIR 👇 📖 وَغَلَّقَتِ الْأَبْوَابَ • وَغَلَّقَتِ = wāw ʿāṭifa + fiʿl māḍī on the intensive pattern (ghallaqa, "locked tight"); the tāʾ al-taʾnīth takes a kasra to meet the sukūn of al-; fāʿil is a ḍamīr mustatir (hiya) • الْأَبْوَابَ = mafʿūl bihi, manṣūb with a fatḥa; broken plural of bāb Meaning: "And she locked the doors" 📖 وَقَالَتْ هَيْتَ لَكَ • وَقَالَتْ = wāw ʿāṭifa + fiʿl māḍī with tāʾ al-taʾnīth; fāʿil is a ḍamīr mustatir (hiya) • هَيْتَ = ism fiʿl amr ("come!"), mabnī. The recitation cycles through the qirāʾāt: هِيتَ (Nāfiʿ), هَيْتُ (Ibn Kathīr), هَيْتَ (Ḥafṣ), هِئْتَ (Hishām). Same call, different vowels; some also read Hishām's form as a verb, "I have made myself ready for you" • لَكَ = lām ḥarf jarr + kāf ḍamīr muttaṣil in the place of jarr, making clear who is being addressed Meaning: "and said, 'Come, you!'" 📖 قَالَ مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ • قَالَ = fiʿl māḍī; fāʿil is a ḍamīr mustatir (huwa), Yūsuf • مَعَاذَ = mafʿūl muṭlaq of an omitted verb (aʿūdhu), manṣūb, muḍāf • اللَّهِ = muḍāf ilayh, majrūr Meaning: "He said, 'I seek refuge in Allah'" 📖 Tafsir, Ibn Kathīr "Scholars differ in their recitation of (Hayta Laka), whereby Ibn Abbas, Mujahid and several other scholars said that it means that she was calling him to herself." Whichever reading you hear, the meaning is the same: she called him to herself, and his answer was to seek refuge in Allah. #learnarabic #quranicarabic #tafsir
