One thing I never understood as a child was why, whenever the food wasn’t enough for everyone, Mama would always say, “I’m not hungry. You children should eat first.” She would make sure we were fed while she quietly went without. As I grew older, I realised that Mama was hungry too, she simply sacrificed her portion so her children wouldn’t go to bed hungry. A mother’s love is truly selfless and priceless.
