@lindataylor4986: Gas prices are going absolutely nuclear again. As of September 25th, the national average for regular gas has climbed to about $4.48 a gallon, the highest price ever recorded for this time of year. September itself is on pace to become the most expensive September on record, smashing the previous monthly record. The biggest culprit is expensive crude oil and continued instability around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for roughly 20% of the worlds oil supply. Refining costs are also unusually high while US gasoline inventories recently dropped and demand increased. That combination means expensive oil is colliding with tighter fuel supplies. The West Coast is getting cooked even harder. California is averaging about $6.24 for regular, while its diesel prices recently reached record territory above $8.40. Limited refinery capacity, special fuel requirements, taxes and an isolated fuel market make supply problems hit California especially hard. #gas
