I had to run blocker for a trucker on 97 south out of Goldendale no breaks down to the bridge at Biggs. talked him all the way down this hits home

my brother lost his brakes coming down a mountain years ago. sharp curves, and extremely steep grade with no run a way ramp. how he made it to the bottom in one piece nobody knows. took him a long time to even talk about it without tears.

I used to be a dispatcher for a small branch of a trucking company. We didn’t run much long hauls stuff most routes had our drivers home every night but most runs involved the mountains of WV. I will never forget the wash of pure dread that came over me the few times we had crash reports flag on our sensors. We thankfully never had anything that resulted in casualties but until I knew my drivers were safe I was a basket case.

I was 6 months pregnant when I watched a trucker flip in front of me i stopped with one other person it made me so sad to watch how many people just kept going and he could have seriously been hurt but thankfully he wasn’t but his leg was hurt and he couldn’t climb out the top window so we had to finish shattering the front windshield to get him out. In the process of doing so a GDOT person pulled up before pd or end got there and literally told us to just wait till they got there and leave him in the truck….i said absolutely not if your not going to help us get him out the least you can do is find something to cap of the file line that’s busted right there and leaking fuel out everywhere. He literally went back to his truck and rummaged around for a few minutes before coming back to close off the fuel line right as we got the guy out of the truck. Thankfully they guy was ok but he had went around the curve and something in his load wasn’t secured right and shifted and he went swerving everywhere were before he completely lost control of the trailer and it went over on its side slinging his truck over with it and slide over 200-300 yards before coming to a stop down in the ditch I thank god the other person that stopped had a tire iron we could use to help smash the window the rest of the way

As a truck driver out here on the road, the reality of this brought tears to my eyes. People give us a hard time when there’s an accident involving a truck, but they will never know how many we have prevented

Omg, hit me in my feels. My daddy, uncle, grandpa, even mom and grandma drove a little bit. I remember getting a call that dad had been in a wreck. He was ok. My grandpa drove for almost 60 years. Growing up favorite movies Convoy, Black Dog, trucker songs, especially Alabama Roll On.❤️
