The law is not a dirty word, like some of Paul’s followers think, ignoring Jesus’ teachings. Jesus’ teachings are that ultimately humans have a need for “order” in this earthly life, for the benefit of everyone (including the poor, weak, powerless and “sinners”), not just the strong and powerful. When we look at a beautiful sunset, we witness “order”, we describe it as “beautiful”, because order is innately beautiful to human beings. Jesus’ message was create and enter an orderly world the “Kingdom of God”. Until humans achieve an inner and outer orderly state (Kingdom of God), troubles will haunt us. The orderly world will not materialise without effort; until we all bring out from within. The law maintains some semblance of “order”, until we become orderly and fair towards everyone, not by the strong and powerful oppressing the weak and powerless, otherwise the cycles keep repeating themselves. The goal is “order” the road there can be the law. This will not happen until we humans learn to behave out of kindness and love towards all, not out of greed and plunder. Thus, Jesus did not reject the law, he tried to show that it was a path to “order” called the “Kingdom of God”, a state of an orderly world, fair for all. Thus, the Quran’s verdict against all is “. . . Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason? (Quran 2:44). Likewise Jesus condemns "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! . . . you have neglected the more important matters of the law, justice, mercy and faithfulness." (Matthew 23:23)

The verse she referring to is: “ . . . The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh come; and unto Him shall the gathering of the people be . . .” (BibleKJV, Genesis 49:10). Jesus according to the narrative became crucified by the Romans and never became ruler of biblical Israel. Thus he carried no earthly “sceptre”, which the biblical prophecies required of the Messiah (Luke acknowledges it at Luke 1:32, “The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David”). Paul spent endless effort trying to explain away the “no sceptre-Messiah”.
