I agree with saying something each and every time someone/anyone does something that clearly demonstrates a lack of decent human values and the cornerstones of democracy - I also believe we must take it a step or few further - I don’t have on-going, meaningful relationships/friendships with people who consistently say or believe or act in this manner - that’s re-enforcement for those words so they have some bite- here’s an analogy- if you’re religious and you admit action / a fault to your god - it’s not enough to just say you’re sorry and hope for forgiveness- there needs to be a change - it’s about accountability and consequences which we are told you teach or we’re taught by your parents / your teachers that when they ask you to stop, change a behavior - I’m sorry even if it’s genuine is not enough - if you do it again what is the accountability/ consequences to enforce that rule? This is not rocket science it’s just common sense and common decency which is just about gone
