pearl was originally meant to be a preservation character who wouldn’t even stay a preservation character; she would take the path of whoever she selected for her shield 😭😭

i think Sub paths should be a thing where two different character mechamics can be one thing at a time, like Lingsha could be abundance+remembrance, Hyacine is Remembrance+Abundance, Topaz being Hunt+Remembrance, and Eva being Elation+Erudition(if it makes sense)

Pearl was indeed supposed to be Preservation and Kuchiba would be the Elation sustain, but after Benzaitengoku/Edo Star got censored Pearl got changed to Elation

i think the path system is kinda outdated and meaningless. hunt/erudition/destruction characters don’t care about whether they’re fighting single-target or groups of enemies bc endgame modes always have a gimmick that benefits the newest dps unit. harmony buffs and nihility debuffs do the same thing with the only difference being who they target. the only way for abundance/preservation to sell is to give them harmony/nihility kits. rem and elation paths are like hoyo saying “screw the paths, let’s just release a new path whose units functionally do the same thing as other paths but work best together so players are forced to invest in mono teams”. it is a mess 😭

the way remembrance and elation absolutely didn't need to be a thing like characters could've just had memosprites or be able to launch elation skills and deal elation damage while others don't like how some characters have fuas and some don't

I think it's because preservation characters are usually pretty broken and extremely meta for a long time (i still use aventurine in end game)
