I’ve always admired how much they celebrated their dead last year I made an ofrenda because I loved the thought of my family members and pets coming back and enjoying a time on earth with the family again I know I’m not Hispanic but it did bring me so much comfort I asked my Hispanic friends if it was okay and all the things I needed and they were so excited to help me other cultures don’t deserve how sweet and loving the Hispanic culture is! 😭

I’m not Hispanic but I can’t even begin to explain how much comfort the thought of our loved ones coming back to visit us has brought me, I used to think death was something frightening and final because that’s how everyone else around me treated it as, but all the while forgot that not everyone on this earth saw it that way, and as it turns out in the end it‘s simply a "See you soon"❤️

This is my first year building an ofrenda! (Except I’m in a college dorm and have to abide by my colleges rules so I can’t have fresh flower, incense or candles) and I’ll be putting our food and water offerings as well as salt for purification a little bit later. I think I did not too bad considering (and I made all the cempasúchil myself!) I’m a no sabo kid who grew up disconnected from our culture because my grandfather moved here from Puebla when it was a bad time to be an immigrant with a z in your last name and wanted his kids to have a normal life so he didn’t teach them any of the traditions, and I’m slowly trying to relearn.
