just out of curiosity does any builder check the composition of the ground under the house by drilling before building over there? Here in Finland it's mandatory unless you build on hard rock

The house is on a slab and I'd like to know what type of slab they used in the design. if you watch his entire video series, the foundation is cracked straight across from one side to the other. The laminate flooring is glued to the concrete on the main level and the crack is wide, straight through the house. Same in the upper floor ceiling. . He should get a geological survey ti see how solid the ground is. I'd guess it bad site prep combined with a poor slab design choice for the geology. So if they built it on a Floating slab, its a big issue. Monolithic slab might be OK. it should be on a Raft slab. It's a big builder (over $10 billion annually) and other owners of similar homes have contacted him with similar issues.

Preston they are declining it because if they say thats a problem then everyone that bought their homes with this problem will want it fixed. Shame on the inspectors and engineers saying its no biggie. You are lying to that homeowner for a big building co.
