@fujiland1: Long before the crowns, sold-out shows, international tours and the legendary K1 De Ultimate, Wasiu Ayinde was a young Lagos boy learning his craft behind the scenes. In the 1970s, he joined the band of the legendary Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, initially working as an instrument packer and later becoming a road manager. But he wasn't just carrying instruments. He was watching, listening and learning. Under Barrister's mentorship, the young Wasiu discovered his own musical voice. By the early 1980s, he was ready to step out on his own. Then came Talazo '84. That album changed everything, establishing Wasiu Ayinde as a major force in Fuji and setting him on a path that would eventually take the music far beyond Nigeria. From instrument packer to Fuji icon. From apprentice to King. This photograph captures Wasiu Ayinde before the crown, before K1, before the legend.
