only problem with it is that if the boost system cant handle the shock load from this amount of pressure being instantly applied, the system itself is going to grenade. it may save the engine, but youre out an intercooler and all of the tubing and possibly your turbos.

Gas turbines have been doing this for decades. Bleed valves are located on the diffuser and let the machine get up to speed before closing. They're also used to control engine temp/measured gas temperature.

If there is less pressure in the pipe then wouldn’t there be less combustion pressure due to a lesser air/fuel charge? I thought the point of this was to get power online sooner rather than later.

it's an amazing boost strategy. we use that for Pikes Peaks International Hill Climb. Very commonly used in Australia and we got that from them
