He reportedly told officers that he had run away from home after a family dispute and had taken money intended for his parents’ burial. Then officers noticed something unusual in his passport: an Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) stamp, even though he claimed it was his first time entering the UK. When questioned, he reportedly said he had bought the passport on the streets of Lagos from a man he called “Uncle London.” He then requested asylum — but reportedly admitted he didn’t understand what asylum meant. While officers were waiting for the result of an age assessment, he disappeared and reportedly could not be located afterwards.
