HgTesha :
Bro, I’m not 100% in agreement with you.
Yan, why are you trying to make people think that only songs that hold people accountable can be gospel songs? You seem to have forgotten that we are saved by grace, not by who we have become.
Yan, is it okay to say that songs about hope and salvation are not for Christians? When popular artists sing certain kinds of songs, it’s considered okay, but when gospel artists sing them, people say it’s wrong. Go to Psalm 35 and see for yourself.
When gospel songs are played in clubs, I actually think that can be the right place for them, because there are many people there who need to hear God’s message. The issue is that, in clubs, they often only play certain parts of the songs.
There are also many people who are hustling and struggling in life. The lyrics you may think are describing “unrighteous” people might actually speak directly to their situations and struggles. Through these songs, they can be encouraged and helped.
In addition, we don’t get to choose how God reaches His people. Anything can be used by God to deliver His message. God can use a song, a lyric, or even a situation that we might not expect to reach someone.
I also think gospel songs should be made beautiful and, at times, enjoyable to listen to, because they carry the message of our beautiful Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth and remind us of what He has done for us.
