Someone else said this but it stuck with me. The reason so many of us struggled with these last two albums is because she’s missing from her own writing. Like she isn’t singing about how she feels or what she thinks it’s what everyone else does/feels.

the whole "insufferable" line is very sad to me. I think it's intended to be tongue in cheek, but it feels like she's telling on herself almost. of all the things to write about this deep and fulfilling love, why is this bare minimum the thing that feels most worth emphasizing?

imo the most vulnerable song about travis is honeyyy, and even that is very distant and arms length and i think that she’s very closed off on purpose, like she’s fighting against someone? the fans even? like she’s being very combative in some of this songs for the sake of it.

I think she has good songs about Travis. Like the alchemy and so high school and honey (not overtly deep but not negative or shallow) and I don’t think she’s settling like people are saying. I think she’s just too focused on clapping back at the haters and being like “see he loves me even though you all said I was unloveable” but that’s unrelatable and annoying and not what fans wanna hear. I would like to see more deep love songs about him like her previous albums. Hoping for a marriage album or something. I legit love all of her albums but showgirl was SUCH a disappointment.

To be fair, the song is a jab at the fans/people who comment on her relationship. However, I agree that it’s odd that she’s writing about how the world perceives her relationship rather than how about she feels in it
