I'm not against kataang but for me it felt like Katara was more like an motherly/older sister towards him in the first two seasons. She was really the kind of kid that was forced into "maturity" while even though you would expect the same from Aang he still felt very childish, and in puberty the two years age difference, and the point where women to mature earlier as well it just felt kinda off. to me it felt like they had to grow a little older first for it to make sense
