When I had my appendix out, I went through 3 people who didn’t believe that I had appendicitis. “I think I have appendicitis” “we can’t be too sure 😄” “I think it’s my appendix” “let’s do a few tests first” “wow hey you’re right it is your appendix 😮” after they confirmed it, I got IVs and they were like we have to immediately go to surgery. I get through all the procedures to get to THE room and they put the anesthesia mask on me and tell me to breathe. I said ok. And the dude just straight up yelled at me to “BREATHE IN!!” I woke up however long later to the Super Bowl halftime show with Eminem and Dr Dre

Sorry that you had those experiences; ones that unfortunately happen too often, because of the screwed up medical culture of providers thinking you’re either drug seeking or anxious; and god help you if you’re a woman, because they sadly get treated worse. As an RN myself, this judgmental, ignorant way of thinking in medical professionals upsets me and the needs to stop. I try to instill in my orients not to be this way, but to try to understand the patient and situation keenly to better treat them appropriately. I hope any further experiences are top notch! Btw, are you sure you didn’t have any rashes? 😛 jk
