@teawithmd: The new ASH 2026 guidelines increased the iron deficiency (measured by ferritin, iron stores) cut off from 15 to 30 ng/mL, and actually to 50 ng/mL in people with heavy periods or other symptoms. This is a big change! Iron deficiency is a cause of hair shedding, along with all these other changes like pale skin, bluish undereyes, feeling cold all the time, and having a fast heartbeat along with shortness of breath.
