@blake.lee333: Music has this incredible way of holding a place, time and a person. One song can bring someone you love right back into the room. I grew up with my mom on a gravel road without much, and Dolly was always a light we looked up to. Her music spoke to where we came from, but the woman she became showed us what was possible — strength, kindness, humor, generosity, and such a beautiful example for women. I used to sing this song with my mom. Since she’s been gone, I haven’t been able to get through it without breaking down but I’m getting a little better. I woke up this morning with this song stuck in my head. I couldn’t shake it, so I decided to get it out, and sing it. Just to find out that today is Give Like Dolly Day. Somehow, that feels pretty special. Dolly, you meant so much to my mom, and because of that, you’ll always mean so much to me.
