that is a pretty reasonable email regarding an hvac system that is not functioning and coaching/school decisions around it. if it 90 degrees and humid in the gym in the afternnon, doing sprints does risk causing health issues from overheating. knowing from experience that school coaches are very ignorant of health, exercise science, youth athletes and safety, this email is very legit. you dont wait for someone to pass out and injury to occur before making a change. very few coaches have any clue about how a body functions and dont care to know. heck, had cross country coaches not even do head counts after sending kids out on runs that were thru neighborhoods, open spaces with coyotes, mountain lions and bears, with no coach with them. son came across a 5 yr old who was lost. was abot to get him home. then called home because he didnt know how to get back to the trail. we picked him up. drove back to the school. all of his gear was sitting there. coaches had gone home. nobody knew or cared he had not returned from the run. the coaches need to be held accountable for their decisions.

I live in Minnesota and these kids are super soft. Hundred degree weather in August when school starts and we never had air-conditioning

Yeah, this is totally reasonable! My daughter actually got heat exhaustion from training in a hot gym, and there are athletes that are dying from heat stroke. It’s not something to take lightly on the school’s side. And I’m with others; I would bet money the joys were practicing in the new gym, where the a/c was working just fine.
