CNBC ran the numbers on America's betting markets and found that bots are behind more than 80 percent of the volume. Tap the link in my bio and see exactly how we're taking advantage of news like this, a dollar a month. On July 2 CNBC published a data dive on Polymarket, the largest crypto prediction market in the world, where you trade yes or no on real events. Most of it is empty. Eighty percent of every market Polymarket has ever closed did less than $10,000 in volume, and more than 45,000 markets never took a single trade. A business professor at the University of San Diego went through 671 million trades and found that more than 80 percent of the volume comes from bots, automated wallets placing fifty or more trades a day. Then CNBC checked the leaderboard, and this is the number to sit with. Since late 2022 regular traders picked the correct outcome more often than the bots did, and still finished down $82 million combined. The bots finished up $136 million. Read that again. The machines did not predict better than people. They won on speed and on entry price. Humans were right and still lost the money. Two days later CNBC ran part two. Weekly volume went from $65 million at the start of June to a peak of $5.6 billion three weeks later. The last completed week came in at $5.4 billion, split between Kalshi and the US regulated exchange Polymarket. For scale, the Super Bowl did $1.4 billion in total. The World Cup did close to four times that in a single week, then did it again. So the game has two sides. People supplying the money and machines collecting it. The difference now is that you can run the agents instead of trading against them. Follow for the next one before the headlines catch it.
