Most of us who are employed are required to pay taxes, while, to my knowledge, many taxi drivers operate independently and may not be paying personal income tax in the same way. I understand that taxi drivers are also trying to make a living, just like the rest of us. However, I believe the government could consider removing privately operated taxis from the roads and creating a government-run taxi company. Existing taxi drivers could then apply for positions as professional taxi drivers and receive a proper salary, with the appropriate taxes deducted. This would also mean that every driver would be registered with the company, with their personal and employment details on record. It could create greater accountability and potentially help address issues such as robbery and assault, because drivers would know that they could be identified and held accountable for their actions. Most importantly, it would create formal employment opportunities while bringing more structure and accountability to the taxi industry. To me, that's what creating jobs should look like.

I don't understand the whole scenario of verifying a taxi I mean with what time? because you literally stop the taxi and ask for the destination go in and the rest is history. City of Windhoek must just put cameras at all the 4 ways or robots or register all the vehicles

Unfortunately they will also use a lady and you will think it’s safe to get in the taxi. We just have to be extra cautious about everyone at this point.
