🇨🇭The prettiest little corner of Lake Lugano Morcote is a small and pretty village, easy to explore and really worth adding if you’re visiting Ticino. I liked that you can walk the lakefront, wander through the old streets and then climb up to Santa Maria del Sasso for a completely different view over the village and lake. It doesn’t need a full day, but I’d give it a few hours so you’re not rushing through it. Tips for your visit: • Walk through the old village with its narrow lanes, arcades and little piazzas • Climb the monumental staircase up to Santa Maria del Sasso and the terraced cemetery • Stop at the Swing the World swing for the view over Lake Lugano and the church below • Visit Parco Scherrer for its mix of Mediterranean plants, bamboo and unusual Asian-inspired buildings • Walk part of the panoramic trail above the village for wider lake views • Finish by the lake with a drink or lunch along the waterfront • Take a boat on Lake Lugano for a completely different view of Morcote and the mountains around it. Other fantastic locations in Ticino • Lugano: lakeside walks, Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore • Ascona: colourful old town and Lake Maggiore • Valle Verzasca: emerald water, stone villages and Ponte dei Salti • Vallemaggia: waterfalls, old villages and wild mountain scenery • Foroglio: traditional stone houses beneath its dramatic waterfall • Bellinzona: three impressive medieval castles • Locarno: Piazza Grande, lake views and easy access to the surrounding valleys 👇Follow @zenwander for more travel tips. . . . . . . #ticino #morcote #switzerlandtravel #visitswitzerland #swissvillages
