However, according to an X post which cited a source familiar with the matter, several documents and artefacts were removed prior to the visit. These included a brick from the Great Wall of China, which was on the initial viewing list but subsequently removed. Other items removed included the 1844 Treaty of Wanghia, the 1858 Treaty of Tientsin, the 1951 Treaty of San Francisco, and a letter the Guangxu Emperor sent to former U.S. President Grover Cleveland in 1895. The Treaty of San Francisco justified Taiwan’s undetermined status, as post-war Japan renounced its claim over the island but did not name a successor government, according to the Geopolitical Monitor. While Trump has repeatedly emphasised the success of the visit, calling it "very productive", he has not elaborated as to the nature of the developments — if any — as yet.
