she absolutely deserves to be a Saint. in a way she already is, for what she did for all those women and babies. theres also stories from the other side of the axis, from unit 731, about infants born in the camp. it's terrifying in a way that makes your stomach turn. the human capacity for evil is truly unfathomable sometimes

Ravensbrück was one of those camps where that happened. It was part of our education to visit these camps as young kids and listen to these things while standing in that same medical room where it happened! I'm still traumatized by this experience

my great aunt's best friend survived the nazi death march when the allied troops were encroaching and they were liquidating the camps. she wrote a book called All But My Life by Gerda Weissmann Klein. It was turned into a short film that won an Oscar and she was awarded the presidential medal of freedom.
