Gen X here. Grew up in harlem and the Bronx in NYC. My childhood was great. My mom used to put sheets on the fire escape and that was our play house. We used to be outside in the summers getting wet with the fire hydrants. Kids were everywhere playing hopscotch, ring around the pony, jumping ropes, freeze tag. We were outside all day and made it home before it got dark. Family get together with all my cousins was chaos but I loved it. A happy home is what you create and make for yourself. My kids in turn had it all. They grew up with the same love that was given to me. No one is rich but we are rich in love. 🥰 FYI your home looks great.

We had the station wagon with those fold up seats too! We would ride in the back of the truck, no seatbelts! My dad would smoke up clouds of smoke while listening to his Pink Floyd albums. Christmas trees with multi colored ornaments, handmade ornaments, tinsel and garlands. But I’m closer to your mama’s age. My husband wants the house that looks like it is a model home. I prefer the lived in look. I love you for keeping true to you!
