I use to always turn up at work 15 minutes early, on a 10 hour shift i was supposed to get a hour and a half break, id nip out for a quick smoke every couple hours and call that my break and if i was too busy id skip breaks, so most days I wouldn't even take half a hour, then id stay late to tidy up. got told there was complaints about me taking too many breaks and people were watching me walk out the door. I explained id only be out for 5 minutes, got told I had to follow the break rules. so now I arrive on time, take my full hour and a half break in the middle of my shift, then leave right on time, I never get finished and the mess rolls on to the morning shift who then struggle so now theyre having to hire an extra person for mornings to finish what I dont get time to do.

Had a boss who was autistically obsessed with people being on time. If you walked in at 8:01 he would publicly call you out and embarrass you. Top guy would regularly stay until 6:30 or so, last one out each day. Was 2 mins late once and the boss publicly called him out and he quit on the spot.

If your manager has the time to clock your movements they don’t have enough to do and are expendable to the company and scared of it. They will tear you down to make you look bad cause they are threatened by you

I had a coworker (not a boss) who looked at the clock every time I left for the day. One day she commented “leaving early I see.” I replied with, “Yes, and I came in early too. Thanks so much for noticing!” She always came in an hour later than I did, so of course she had no way of knowing I was there early. She never did it again. 🤣

I worked at a job for 6 months, I was speaking to a client until 12:15 so I took lunch until 1:15. was then met with boss who told me lunch is 12-1 no exceptions and you couldn't make up lost lunch time. left very shortly after

unless there is another employee waiting to go to their lunch for this person to get back don't care about the minutes. the quality and amount of work done matters more than the minutes.
