I mean we still use VORs (very high frequency omnidirectional range) to navigate as a backup usually. It’s complicated to explain in one comment but easy to google. And we still learn how to use paper charts and an e6b (flight data computer) or as I like to call it the whizz wheel. It’s good to know in case every single backup and redundancy plan fails which is highly unlikely with EFB (electronic flight bag) and gps and battery backups. But just in case 😅.

CPLDC is primary. HF is a backup. VHF is still used plane to plane during the crossing to Hawaii

VHF at altitude much more than 200ft. we actually use handheld radios over miles of racecourse during marathons. HF remains the most robust system. I promise it's not the same tech as the 1930s. Same spectrum, but radios have in fact changed some
