Almost every cat food product tested in a new study contained detectable levels of lead, with other heavy metals also found across the samples. The Clean Label Project study tested 100 wet and dry cat food products from 62 brands, detecting cadmium in 96% and arsenic in 94% of them. Researchers found that dry food generally had higher levels of lead, while fish-based products tended to show greater levels of mercury.
