ROME - 3D TIMELAPSE (No AI) #rome #italy #romanempire#city #timelapse #3danimation #History #noai #vatican #pope #coliseum Rome grew on a floodplain of the Tiber, with settlements on its hills and marshy valleys in between. Under Etruscan kings (6th c. BC), the first major urban works appeared: drainage of the marshes, the Cloaca Maxima sewer, and the first Forum at the foot of the Capitoline as the civic and commercial core. In the early Republic, Rome expanded in a rather chaotic way, with private temples, crowded streets, and multi-story apartment blocks (insulae). The state gradually added key infrastructure: paved streets, an expanded sewer network, several aqueducts bringing water into the city, and public buildings (basilicas, theaters, circuses). Under the Empire, Rome became a monumental capital of over a million people, defined by huge public spaces (imperial Fora, triumphal arches), massive amenities (Colosseum, baths, circuses), an extensive aqueduct system, and an administrative division into 14 regions within the Aurelian Walls. After the fall of the Western Empire, Rome shrank: large ancient areas were abandoned or turned into fields, and the urban fabric contracted around major basilicas and the Tiber. In the Renaissance and Baroque periods, popes acted as master planners: they cut long straight avenues linking major churches, created grand squares, fountains, and obelisks as urban markers, and rebuilt St. Peter’s and the Vatican quarter, shaping Rome as a spectacular “Christian city.” When Rome became Italy’s capital in 1870, it was still partly rural inside its ancient walls. New boulevards, the Termini station, administrative districts, and planned neighborhoods transformed it into a modern capital, while the population exploded from ~220,000 to well over a million by the 1930s. Today, Rome combines a tightly protected historic center with extensive 20th‑century suburbs, facing challenges of traffic, infrastructure, and balancing preservation with the needs of a metropolis of nearly 3 million people. This is a visual simplification of the evolution of Rome through the years, it may not be 100% accurate Feel free to comment if you've seen any historical inaccuracy on the video, all feedbacks are helpful.
