its not that there is an overlap, modern astrology uses the inherited skeleton, so i would argue that is a subcatagory or detached composite--we can actually trace the development through the history and tranmission of knowledge, the reason that it has developed in the way it has is because western Europe erased and then borrowed and reclassified cosmological tradition, and modern astrology is far less scholastic and structural, giving allowance to the yucky things it harbors.

So the conflating IS a thing. It’s called the 12 letter alphabet. When it was popularized in the 1970s we didn’t have the source texts that we have now to understand why the 5th is not at ALL related to Leo but actually it is the JOY of Venus. At the end of the day if conflating the signs, planets and houses works for some people then they just need to keep doing that andUltimately I think people just need to practice that astrology that fits them.

Sorry but any astrologer that says “If YOU HAVE ______ IN LEO/5th HOUSE, THEN” or “IF YOU HAVE _____ IN ARIES/1st HOUSE, THEN” i know they dont know what they’re talking about

as someone who has Saturn and Gemini conjunction mercury in Gemini in my 6th house, simply put; a lot of these astrologers are stuck up, period. The more stuck up and inflexible you are with information the more you can literally deny what's in front of you and I can't stand this bullshit. There is not just "some overlap"—they're are literally the same. That's why astrology reaffirms itself through these overlaps. like I hate when people take such simple things and make them unnecessary debates when it's so futile.
