@afeezphotography: What do you guys think? At what point does the role over a content creator crosses over to that of a videographer… “I think if content creators aren’t ready to accept that what they do will never replace videography and therefore they should learn to shadow videographers and not attempt to take over them, then they shouldn’t be in this line of work. Wedding Content creations always started with a more BTS approach so I really don’t know why content creators try to do what a videographer has been paid to do. And even if she done it by accident, the moment she was advised to move, she should’ve. Letting pride get in the way with working alongside another vendor and potentially making their job harder is a massive no no. “

A lot of these wedding content creators have actually never collaborated with other creatives on a well structured set. They think it’s all about just flash cuts and trendy music. I legit know people who would’ve packed up and sat somewhere until the issue was resolved by the coordinator. You handled it well.

How do other creators even get into issues with videographer at events? For me, once I get to an event, I introduce myself to the videographer, and once we start shooting, I try as much as possible not to block them because I know that, just as my shot is important, their shot is important too. And if in any way I’m blocking them, or maybe my light is disturbing their shot, they’ll let me know and I’ll adjust. At the end of the day, we’re all there to do our jobs and capture beautiful moments, so I believe we can work around each other without getting in each other’s way.

It’s an individual thing trust me. Some people are just badly behaved. Whenever I go for events, I make sure I work well with the photographer and the videographer because I know how important everyone’s shot is. I was at an event one day,the main videographer was shooting from another angle, his assistant was shooting beside me. The next thing,he told me to shift,he pushed me aside and said he was the main videographer and he needed to capture that part. Agreed, he was the main videographer, but there was no need to push me aside just to pass a message. I left there for him because I understood how important that moment was, I went to take it from another angle. I was pissed about the pushing stuff and I went to meet him after we were done, he said it wasn’t intentional that he just wanted to tell me to move a bit so that he can capture his angle. He apologized, I apologized and we moved on from it. I did not argue with him at that moment, not because what he did was right, but because I can’t be the reason the couple important moment is missed.

As a wedding planner/coordinator, this is too common. Most content creators don’t know how to angle themselves properly or share the space given with other creatives. For some reason I feel like I know who this content creator is from previous experience

This is why I prioritise meetings with the entire media prior to an event to set boundaries and tone for how they will all work together. Nowadays you can have even up to 10 content creators at an event😭 so its essential boundaries and lanes are established. Sorry you had to encounter this. May God help us with pride as vendors and just serve with humility😭🙏🏾

I think another better solution is having the media team create a group and discuss before the day of the event so some kind of familiarity and agreement is created

This right here is an individual thing, not a content creator thing. Your points are valid, although it is important that, when stating this point, you call out the specific individual, and not rub a set niche in the mud.

are we gonna blame content creators or blame the individual. I have heard the exact same story happening between photographers and videographers. Some people are just dicks.

this stuff is really an individual problem, i create contents for weddings and i work with photographers and videographers and when they tell me i'm in their shot i usually move to find another angle, so i just think the content creator you worked with was just one with a bad character

I had an issue with the content creators during my last shoot because they were point there light opposite my shot,I had too push the guy out.its very dumb for two different content creators to point there light on one particular thing the same time, make Una try Dey use wisdom and also take note that your content is just for the internet only but the videographer’s own is what there children and grandchildren will watch

It’s just common with them..As much as they’re unethical media people.. majority of them didn’t go through physical mentorship.. So they tend to think it’s a fight to get a shot.. No we can make it work.. I can refer you,you can put me ON.. But we fighting doesn’t make this work!

I think this is an individual problem. I have had the worse with photographers and videographers at events too…… when I’m lucky to find people who wanna just deliver, we just work together and communicate. Next time, ignore and find another angle. Trust me there’s always another. Cause people just have werey

Shots or no shots, a videographer is supreme, content is secondary. Ion no why we debating. Content creator should know hierarchy of demand. Everyone is important, but you see a filmmaker, booked by the bride, is supreme.
