I’m genuinely asking, when you say “conscripted temporarily” - “conscripted” is typically understood to mean non-voluntary, as in enlistment by force rather than choice - so how would ‘non-voluntary’ employment be different than slavery?

YES!!! Other pyramids even had pay stubs for the laborers!! I’m sure at least some pyramids involved slaves but a ton didn’t!

guys its literally well documented they worked in six month work rotations had their own city and recieved the same quality meat as royalty but saying slaves is more convientt and normalizes the concept more

One of my all time fav archaeological discoveries was how they discovered records of how there was once a stop work strike because the Pharaoh at the time had not been keeping up with payments, so they went on strike until he did 😂😂😂

if I'm not wrong the Israelites were enslaved working fields and mining not actually building the structures themselves. they are only depicted as doing such in popular media to dramatize certain aspects and because this fact was still debated during the 90s and early 2000s I think. but that's 20+ years ago now so they know somewhat better.
