Caramelised onion, sausage & blue cheese pinwheels [AD] Try something new the next time you’re hosting with these delicious and easy pinwheels which make for a perfect snack or appetiser using 1912 Golden Blue - a deliciously creamy blue cheese with mellow undertones so a perfect introduction to blue cheese! Recipe: makes approx 15 - 250g sausage meat (I used spicy lamb sausages) - 1 large onion - 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar - 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped - 60-70g 1912 golden blue cheese, crumbled - 1 x 320g puff pastry sheet - 1 egg for egg wash Method 1. Finely slice the onion. Heat a drizzle of oil or butter in a frying pan over a medium/low heat, add the onion with a small pinch of salt and balsamic vinegar or glaze, cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden, sticky and caramelised. Remove from the heat and leave to cool. 2. Remove the sausage meat from its casings and place into a bowl. Add the cooled caramelised onions and chopped parsley, then mix well until evenly combined. 3. Unroll the puff pastry sheet, spread the sausage mixture evenly over the pastry, up until the edges in an even layer. 4. Crumble the 1912 Golden Blue cheese over the top and gently press it into the surface with your hands so it adheres. 5. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Wrap and freeze for 15 minutes to firm up for easier slicing. 6. Slice into 15-16 even rounds and place them flat onto a lined baking tray, leaving a little space between each one. Brush the tops with beaten egg. 7. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (180°C fan) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden, puffed and cooked through. Crumble some extra cheese on top and serve with hot honey. #1912goldenblue #sausageroll #EasyRecipes #springrecipe #puffpastry
