Sending you and Oreo all the love! I lost 3 babies within 1 1/2 years. They were 17,17&16 years old, hardest thing I have ever done but oddly I knew when it was time. Make every hug last a little longer. ❤️🐾

This made me cry. Sounds like the same story of my bear, I had to put him down last month. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever been through.

after we lost our last fur baby, it was so devastating that I swore not to get another baby because my heart just can't take this loss anymore. we have lost 4 and I just can't anymore😭😭😭😫😔

I do animal hospice. I've never regretted putting down an animal early. I only regret the ones I waited too long. the anticipation is way worse for me because I make the appointment a couple weeks out. but once it's done I feel so relieved. I do make their last week super fun. I don't think it's fearful. I feel it's a gift of a good death.

I lost my 16 year old shih tzu Hurley 3 weeks ago. I’m still so sad. It’s so hard when they’re seniors with health issues. But having them gone feels so empty.

😔😔 The anticipatory grief is killing me. I cry every day because Im afraid to face that day. I also have had my little guy for 17.5 years since he was 6 months . My entire adult life. Hes recently been also on a rampage of issues and long term antibiotics. I understand and feel everything you are saying. I will keep you both in my prayers ❤️❤️❤️You are not alone

Our soul dog started his new journey in December of last year, he was a bookend of our life. We got him in our 20s when we first moved out together. He met our son when we welcomed him in 2022. They became inseparable. He was our best friend. We think about him every single damn day. I look for him everywhere 😭

I lost my soul dog April 29th 2026, I’m still not ok , but he still is showing up everyday in little things ( the clouds, random shows, etc) . It’s been the hardest heart break, but without him I wouldn’t know unconditional love.

We lost our 15 yr old boy in February. We fought kidney disease for four years only to have a brain tumor sneak up on us. But in those four years we fought I was a wreck inside knowing we did t have much time 🥺. It’s not easy at all but I look back on the beautiful 15 yrs he gave us 🥰

We just put our 16 year old Shih Tzu down just recently. He too was going through a number of illnesses for the past few months. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through, losing someone who was a part of my everyday life for the last 16 years. Although they may be stubborn Shih tzu’s are the strongest and most loyal creatures. Even though he was going through a hard time I knew he fought hard to stay as long as he could with us. Although it may be the hardest thing, stay strong for yourself and for your little lovebug, he’ll look to you for strength❤️

I had to put down my soul dog 2 years ago now and it still hurts he started having a lot of issues walking. I miss him so much but we are lucky to have the time we do with them.

I’ve had many dogs throughout my life, but my soul dog died on Sunday. Those of us who were able to share such a strong bond with a dog are lucky; I don’t know if I’ll ever have that again. 🌈❤️🩹💙

I got my boy at 21, and lost him 15 years later. I spent the last 3 years of his life caring for him through lymphoma, and my only regret was all of the joy that the anticipatory grief stole from us. Both of us. I know how hard it is to push it down, but try as much as you can not to sit in it. The other part of this is that there’s nothing you can do to soften the blow. It’s going to blow a hole through you, like you’ve never felt before. Don’t suffer twice. It’s been two and a half years since I saw him, and it hasn’t gotten easier. But I’ve learned to carry it. And about 8 months ago, I brought home a rescue pup. The most surprising thing in the world is how much capacity I have for love. Hug your girl for me. Hang in there. The best case scenario is that she never lives a day without you. But that means it’s going to be you who has to live without her. 16 is such a success story. Love her till the wheels fall off. I know you will. ❤️
