Cuz technically it’s not a CVT it’s the engine and electric motor connected through planetary GEARS but because the motor and engine are connected together like that technically it is a continuously variable transmission

but a cvt changes the ratio, and unless im missing something this has one fixed ratio with a variable speed, so how is it anything less than a single gear automatic with a fancy trick?

Who can explain the reason my 2010 RX450H shakes like Shakira after 60mph? Lexus could not explain unless changing the CVT. They noticed the oil blacker than usual and changed it. I didn't want to spend £10,000. Anyone? I have been driving it for a few years now on back roads up to 50mph. No warning lights.

There is only a variation of 2 gears. So technically its variable but thats because of electric drive. Like with tesla. The belt is true cvt
