The Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos) and Its Migration to Lebanon Overview (نظرة عامة): The Song Thrush is a medium-sized European and Asian songbird known for its melodious, repeating vocalizations and spotted chest. It primarily inhabits woodlands, parks, and gardens. Origin & Breeding Grounds (من أين يأتي): During the spring and summer breeding season, these birds occupy vast territories across Northern, Eastern, and Central Europe, as well as parts of Western Russia and Siberia. Migration Route to Lebanon (طريقة وهجرة الطائر إلى لبنان): As winter approaches and temperatures drop in northern regions, Song Thrushes begin their southward migration along the Black Sea–Mediterranean Flyway: Departure: They leave their northern European and Russian breeding grounds around autumn (September to November). Journey: Travelling mainly at night to avoid predators, they cross Eastern Europe, pass through the Balkan region and Turkey, and travel south along the Eastern Mediterranean coast (the Levant). Arrival in Lebanon: Lebanon serves as a critical resting stopover and wintering site. The birds arrive between late October and November, seeking milder winter temperatures, agricultural grounds, and coastal or mid-altitude habitats rich in berries, snails, and insects. Return: In early spring (March–April), they retrace their path northwards to return to their breeding grounds. 0096176404516
