@cbsnews: Cornell University is being sued by a former student, who alleges she went to a Chi Pi fraternity party in 2024 and was drugged and raped by seven men. She alleges a man at the frat house sent a message to the frat's Snapchat group chat suggesting a woman was available for sex. She claims she was raped for hours and filed a report with the university police department about three weeks later. According to the woman’s complaint and her lawyer, none of the men were arrested and that after an investigation, only two of the accused were expelled. She is now suing the school and the fraternity members. Cornell said in a statement it "investigated and adjudicated the allegations consistent with university policies." The way you said Ivy League makes it sound like this is surprising. I think this is a pretty common societal belief that the more expensive or prestigious, the higher morality. It’s a lie of white privilege, and even moreso the rich, white male privilege. In fact, I think one of our Supreme Court justices is a perfect illustration of how these environments are breeding grounds for affluenza and invincibility. A relative once told me that he convinced his mother to send him to a private high school based on the illusion of superior education, safety, religiosity, etc. But, he said, “the only difference between this school and the public school is the cost of the drugs and the lawyers on speed dial”.
