When we lose power at my school we give it a little bit about 1/2 hour (we have light from the windows) and if it isn’t back on we notify parents of an early rapid dismissal

The biggest red flag of her male teacher looking after 50 children in the dark getting mad at your child bc they felt unsafe.Like my mind went to the worst situation especially when you said they went the entire school day like thst and didn't contact any parents. I'd suspect they got a lot of skeletons in their closest they dont want exposed

Where I live, it's a state law that students can't have their phones out at any point in the school day from the first bell until the last bell, k-12.

A portable classroom is different than classroom in the building. There isn't even light when it isn't raining. The issue is that the kids were also cold. They are not going to learn like that. There are going to be safety issues in the dark as well and disciplinary issues.

our code of conduct came in our agendas or you should be able to access it on their website. look up about if the power goes out what protocol is. Ours said if we were without it for 30min-1hr we were to be sent home. (its been 11-12 years since I was in school so bare with me in remembering the time limit.😅 it just applied multiple times the last year I was there.

I went to pick my daughter up for an appointment once when she was in 1st grade and when I got there to pick her up the lady was like “😳oh I didn’t know she had a phone” like she acted like she had been caught doing something but I just brushed it off and sat down in the little waiting area But I wasn’t gonna tell her that she doesn’t have one ya know cause her reaction was really weird, anyway my daughter comes out and we get to the car and she told me that she had apparently had a headache all day and asked repeatedly to call me to pick her up and they refused. I went up there the next morning and made it SUPER CLEAR that if for any reason she needs to contact me she is to be allowed to do so. They made sure to let me know that my 1st grader shouldn’t have a phone and I let them know that what my daughter has or doesn’t have is none of their business.
