This is really misinformed. If home prices go down too low, many mortgages would default causing a massive collapse in the housing market. So by reducing how much the market is lowered is actually a much healthier economic outcome

I obviously also don’t agree with what’s going on either, but at the same time Vancouver is already f*cking nuts, especially on/ getting to the north shore. There’s no way we can make housing more affordable for the masses and have that many more people on the roads and bridges.

Wouldn’t a “crash” hurt more Canadians since many are owners already? Flooding the market with new product would essentially de-value all existing homes and existing homeowners can’t refi or sell without losing money?

They are holding back rental units as well. Most people don't know this but during the pandemic Onni got caught because when people were told to stay home, they realized that the lights across the street and all of the adjacent rental properties were turning on. it was swept under the rug with a very small fine, and nobody investigated it further. However, these developers are constantly manipulating the market by keeping it in played. it reminds me of de beers diamond scam which cost them billions in penalties but nothing happens to these developers in Canada.
