feeling empathy and acting considerate and caring for your fellow humans is not synonymous btw. empathy might make it easier, but care and respect for others is the actual point, and you don't need to FEEL empathy to not be a jerk, most can still comprehend it

I was like 9 when the teacher asked the class 'what makes someone a human' and then she called my parents because while the others said 'being kind' or 'being smart' I said 'our mistakes'. And that was apparently wasn't normal for my age💀. The teacher asked my parents if they can get me a therapist💀

i thought i couldnt lack empathy bc i think im a considerate person😭 cuz people made lacking empathy as some evil thing like i can lack empathy and consider other peoples situations and stuff, it only makes it difficult for me to connect to people

I don’t feel empathy at all. Nothing. I rationalise it in my own way to be able to understand a modicum of what the other person is going through. Just because you don’t feel others’ emotions doesn’t mean you can’t be a decent person

Some people forget empathy isn't just feeling bad for everyone and sum shi. It's more putting yourself in their shoes, be more sensitive towards them to the point you understand how they feel and maybe almost why. They keep confusing empathy with sympathy and compassion too💔

if anything its more impressive for someone to be kind when they physically cant feel empathy because that means they chose to treat people well even though they've gotten nothing out of it.
