Black House is solidly a Dark Tower book, and Other Worlds than These will be as well. To fully understand Black House you will need to have read the first four Dark Tower books, Insomnia, and Low Men in Yellow Coats.

On the one hand as someone else said: life is short, read what you want. That being said…. I personally would wait until you’ve read The Dark Tower series at least. Black House is fantastic, as I’m sure the new book will be, but there are just certain things that will hit harder if you wait till you make that journey first. Even as someone who has read everything I except his most recent, Ive restarted The Dark Tower series (about to start book 4) in anticipation of Other Worlds. Once I finish DT, I’m going to reread Talisman & Black House, THEN finally get to Other Worlds. I think it’s worth it even already knowing the whole story.

The Talisman is my favourite King book. Black House wasn’t as good.

I’d really recommend reading the DT series before Other Worlds Than These.

Be prepared. It feels like his later works are all rushed and the writing isn’t the same quality of the older books.

No. Don’t do it! Black House ties into The Dark Tower. Keep reading in order. Don’t read Black House before the first 4 DT books.
