TW: My baby was practicing safe sleep, resting flat on her back in her bassinet without any pillows, blankets, or other suffocation hazards. I didn’t want to wake her since she had just fallen asleep, so I left the door open to hear her if she cried. While I was eating dinner in the living room across from my bedroom, I returned to check on her and found her pale and blue; she wasn’t breathing, was cold to the touch, and had no pulse. When I picked her up, her body was limp. Thankfully, my mom was able to save her life by performing infant CPR. Since this video is a re-upload, I am addressing the most common questions and assumptions from the previous comments. My baby was four months old when this incident occurred, and she had not received any recent vaccines prior to this happening. The older kids in the video are not my children, but my siblings; they were already in counseling prior to this incident and have continued to see their counselors since. Athena spent over a week in the hospital. While doctors were unable to provide a definitive cause for what happened, she fortunately did not suffer any brain damage. I posted this video to raise awareness about SIDS and to encourage parents to learn infant CPR and invest in a baby monitor—like an Owlet or a similar brand—to keep watch while their babies sleep. I know the content I shared is shocking, but it is reality. I would rather parents be distressed by a video and get the education required to handle a situation like this than for them to experience it themselves without knowing what to do. #SIDS
