Bribes actually are part of our compensation now. Hospitals redirect facility fees to doctors to supplement salaries.

@Drmrsr: I worked in one of those countries before, the only answer to this is judicial system. In US law and law enforcement is so strict and clear that everyone is trying to follow it and price to pay is too high to do anything like bribe. In those other countries law is not being enforced almost never, bribes work for law too. There is no ethics that will make people stop , medicine attracts ego maniacs I general. Only law.
