@sillylillyhart: I don’t think distance always happens all at once. Sometimes there isn’t a big fight, a slammed door, or even one moment you can point to and say, that’s when everything changed. Sometimes it happens quietly, somewhere between everyday life and all the things that needed done. You still share the same rooms. You still talk about dinner, bills, schedules, what needs picked up from the store. Life keeps moving around you like nothing is wrong. But somewhere along the way, the person who used to feel like home starts feeling a little farther away. And that kind of loneliness is strange, because technically you aren’t alone. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes a life feel peaceful instead of simply looking peaceful. I love my quiet corners, my plants, slow mornings, fresh air, a clean house, getting lost in a book and all the tiny rituals that make home feel softer. I’ve learned that I need those little things. Simple living, quiet moments, time outside, space to think. They bring me back to myself when life gets too loud. But I’m also learning that protecting your peace isn’t always about escaping the noise. Sometimes it’s noticing what has become too quiet. Maybe growing older is realizing that relationships need tending too. Not grand gestures every day. Just presence. Curiosity. Conversation that goes deeper than what needs done next. Sitting close enough to actually feel close. I don’t have some beautiful ending tied up with a ribbon tonight. This is more of a diary entry than advice. I just know I never want to become so busy building a life that I forget to actually be present inside of it. 🌿📖🕯️ And maybe home isn’t only the place we create around ourselves. Maybe it’s something we have to keep creating between each other, too.
