When the houses were built, they were several hundred yards from the ocean back in the 70s and 80s. They underestimated how fast the beach would erode.

that water will overtake that strip soon. and it's not climate change. the sands move around and pop back up in other places because the water pushes it there!

I vacation on the OBX. When I have mentioned that sea level rise is probably at play people look at me like I just said “there is Godzilla”. They seem shocked I said it and then act like it is a total impossibility. Then denial starts rolling out of there head to me. I bet it is part of this.
