@coltenbarnaby: Josh Howerton has argued that some forms of slavery were “not necessarily unjust.” He’s asked whether Christians should organize to stop a mosque from being built, and argued that immigration from predominantly Muslim countries threatens America’s Christian character. Philip Anthony Mitchell goes on that podcast, hears all this, and calls it theological depth. Then, on the same show, he tells Christians to “vote right” against an Islamic “invasion.” That’s what I’m criticizing. These men have enormous influence, and they’re using Christianity to promote antichrist ideologies like Christian nationalism. When Mitchell asks how to become a better preacher, telling him he doesn’t need to study more is a dangerous answer. He does. Howerton does too. But they need to branch out of their Calvinism and fascism induced psychosis.
