Dexter feels more like a shonen anime to me. It has great characters and some incredible moments but eventually it starts feeling stretched and loses some of its depth and personally I think it was worth watching up until Season 5. Barry is something completely different though. To me it feels more like a seinen manga , especially Goodnight Punpun. It is not just telling a great story, but feels like a genuine work of art, exploring identity, morality, guilt, self deception, and the darker sides of human nature.

Dexter is js sociopath slop and he js blames his “dark passenger” js cuz he saw shit when he was like 3 like cmon now the dark passenger isn’t even a real thing I feel like they should’ve made some kind of supernatural thing and not js a thing he thinks he carries with him and also YOU is like the most psychopath slop of any show he js kills ladies cuz he falls in love and then starts to hate them and kills them barry actually is more an actual sociopath rather then a psychopath and he’s a real sociopath he doesn’t feel totally cold there’s still a part of him that care but he can things without remorse as well and doesn’t do things for stupid reason or for none at all the writing makes way more sense and is overall way more clean
