Few things to clarify. Either winner or loser can ask for a double or nothing. It doesn’t change the meaning based on who asks. And it IS just another bet, but skipping the payment actually happening from the first one. The debt is carried into the second game. So 10 dollar game turned double or nothing it’s a second 10 dollar game. The math works out the same whether you pay it out first or wait until the second game

And I owe you nothing.“ The winner has no reason to take that bet other than to gamble the money they just won for more money.
