When you say it in American I can spell it in my mind and then I know how each letter is pronounced vs how it’s spelled ergo- learned.

It’s a phonetic thing. Spanish Italian suave non Germanic languages I can’t break down where the word is my brain won’t preserve multiple words it’s all one word or where ever the breaks are

My friends and I would always say "Ya, pero como gringo?" when we needed to know the pronunciation lol cuz its like I wanna see the word in my head and not just parrot what I think Im hearing in Spanish (cuz usually what I think I hear is off by a few syllables)
